Tele-therapy: Motivating Clients by Making Individualized Digital Materials

Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

1. Understand the basic steps for creating simple animations to make reinforcement activities for treatment.

2. Modify online apps created for general purposes for use in treatment sessions.

3. Use digital materials for collecting speech and language samples.


Course Description:

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with examples and applications of digital materials that have been created and individualized for speech and language therapy. A panel of graduate students from the University of Montana will present how they have used digital resources to meet the needs of their clients via tele-therapy.

Presenter Bios:

Margot Diffendaffer completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Sciences and Disorders at the University of Montana. She is currently a graduate student in speech-language pathology at the University of Montana. She has no relevant financial or non-financial disclosures.


Kaitlin Kolka was named to Forward Montana’s 25 Under 25 and former Miss Rodeo Montana, Kaitlin Kolka completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science with a Minor in Coaching at Montana State University. She completed the online leveling program and is currently enrolled as a graduate student in the Speech-Language Pathology program at the University of Montana. Kaitlin has no relevant financial or non-financial disclosures.

Abigail LeClair Abigail LeClair completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders at the University of Montana. She is currently a graduate student in speech-language pathology at the University of Montana. Abigail has no relevant financial or non-financial disclosures.


Kelsey Jacobi completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature at Montana State University in 2017 and the Post-Baccalaureate Communicative Sciences and Disorders Leveling Certificate Program at the University of Montana in 2019. She is currently a graduate student in speech-language pathology at the University of Montana. She has no relevant financial or non-financial disclosures.


Amy Glaspey is Professor in the School of Speech, Language, Hearing, and Occupational Sciences at the University of Montana. Her research includes assessment and treatment of speech sound disorder, with specialization in dynamic assessment. She provides clinical education in the DeWit RiteCare Speech, Language, Hearing, Clinic. Regarding financial and non-financial disclosures, Dr. Glaspey receives a salary from the University of Montana as a Professor. She is also the President Elect for the Montana Speech, Language, and Hearing Association.


Kaitlyn Moodie completed a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Business
